day 29
I still have the first photograph taken of us. It was at prom, at our tiny high school, and even though we'd barely even spoken a word to each other in the years we'd attended, our parents insisted we pose - and we did. I'm not sure either of us really wanted to be there. I folded my arm confidently over your shoulder, relishing the way it fit there like a jigsaw. Your hand wasn't as lucky, curled awkwardly beside my waist. I think you were sure your uncertainty would be hidden behind the folds of my gown, but the photo hides nothing and I still remember the weight of your palm on my back.
