Dark and Dirty

Location

I sit across from

A dark haired lady

Her face is full of concern

“Have you ever thought

About putting your feelings

Down on paper?”

I shrug and slump

Why won’t she just

Leave me alone?

She pleads with me

“Just give it a chance,

You might like it”

I sigh loudly

Want her to know

She bothers me

But I take the paper

Pick up the pen

And I try to write

Nothing comes at first

So I stare at the vast

Whiteness of the page

But then the dam

 Bursts inside of me

And ink starts flowing

Flooding the page

Polluting its purity

With my darkness

But as the page

Grows dirtier

I become clean

This is a really beautiful poem! It's very unlike my style, but embodies a style that I always wish I could write- it's very simple, but very direct and powerful.

Powerful expression!
