Criticize Control

Open your bible, pray for forgiveness, tell him your sins, the lord is your witness.

We are all children of God with free will; we are family, you know.

Then why in the definition of religion is the word control?

Controlled all my life made a person who was not me.

But learning about the world created who I was meant to be.

I sat there afraid God was watching me do things like lust or lie,

scared to live in this world because of some man in the sky.

I'm not saying God is not real and to abandon your faith

but to think openly and critically about everything you face.

They say be careful of false information in today's articles and the news

But has anyone questioned the million years old bible, the practices, the rules?

Doesn't the text say to love everyone no matter their skin or their sin?

Then why is there a ban on abortion, hate on a sexuality, and imprisonment because of skin?

As I've grown, I've learned not to accept all that I am told

but to think individually first and never succumb to control.

Thinking is my superpower and has helped me to grow

However, criticizing control has nourished my glow.
