Connections

No matter how distraught we feel

Lost, lonely, and without appeal

Poetry reminds us we’re not alone,

That everyone else is also prone,

The words of poets touches our hearts,

Help us cope and never feel apart,

We read the works by these wordsmiths,

And think then these feelings are not a-miss,

For centuries others struggle with the same feelings too,

Some distress while others get through,

These characters in these poems are an extension of us,

And this form of literature makes us discuss,

How similar we are yet diverse,

For better or for worse.
