COLD, BURNING GOODBYE
I’m losing my skin
to this cold winter’s day.
I’m slipping from you
and that’s all I can say.
I can’t feel myself
under this snow.
I think I am dying,
but I don’t want you to know.
My skin is of fire
from this cold winter’s day
melting my flesh into an ashtray.
I rely on you
to make me whole,
in hopes of being born anew.
I’m losing my skin
to this cold winter’s day.
I’m slipping from you
and that’s all I can say.
I can’t feel myself
under this snow.
I know that I am dying
and I want you to know,
My skin is of fire
from this cold winter’s day,
melting my flesh into an ashtray.
I relied on you
to make me whole,
in hopes of being born anew.
But I know that I am dying
and you don’t know,
and you can’t hear me
through this red snow,
but I love you
and this is my last goodbye,
which echoes through my slumber,
even if you don’t know.
Goodbye.
