Cherry Trees and Bumblebees
Location
But she was looking past me
At a big beautiful blooming tree
She was in love with nature
Not silly old me
This is what I dreaded
But how could I make her see
See anything anywhere but straight through me
At that gorgeous blossomed cherry
It's limbs were quite low and pink and strong
Perhaps if I climb it and sing her a song
So I surged forward in the direction of her gaze
Only to look back and know I was wrong
Right at that moment as if ignoring me
She turned her gaze to a buzzing bumblebee
She really honestly had no clue
Of what it was I was trying to do
All I needed was to catch her eye
Then wouldn't she love me as I did her
Perhaps a more daring hello through the fear of goodbye
but I couldn't do that could I
I had to try
My gait twiched as I approached her chair
Her face turned in the direction of mine
And the most gorgeous of smiles appeared there
She jumped up and ran into my embrace
She smelled of citrus and earth
All of my subsequent pain this hug was worth
She pushed away utterly confused
And my face became more of a hearth
She had been looking past me
At a big beautiful blooming tree
She was in love with nature
Not silly old me
