Sugar does not crave more sugar

and vinegar does not crave more acidity.

Sugar craves water, and heat.

It longs to be a syrup–smooth, sticky, and sweet.

As vinegar I crave a sexy bicarbonate.

Some cute little NaHCO3

with pretty lips and reckless curves

her composition poured into mine to create effervescent intellect.

I want to win the Science Fair with her

not go home in her fucking pocket.

I want my sharp edges to snag on her cashmere charm,

and when I tear it

she'll take it off and slip on another.
