A Cage of My Own Making

Compulsions undescribed

No outlet for emotions

A cage of my own making

But I forgot the door

Tick tock

Goes the clock

Ticking my thoughts away

Deeper and deeper inside my cage

Darkness undescribed

On and on goes the silence

Until a voice breaks the glass

A voice

A ragged, unfamiliar voice

A soft, timid voice

Compelled from these unpainted finger tips

My finger tips.

Reaching through the cage of my own making

Pulling the light in

Expelling the darkness

What is this light?

A white screen

A scrap of paper

With words of my own making
