Bonechiller
Bonechiller
Rattles the ribs,
Chills the bones,
Breaks through the barrier of flesh
Sticking its knife like fingers
Into my skin,
Like a fresh baby.
I welcome the chill
But not without him
Nipping my nose
Hastily raising the hairs
On my whole self.
Leaves swirl around my feet
His way to greet me
As I happily let him in.
My eyes close,
Like a rose does when
She sleeps,
Against the powerful winds
But I force them open to welcome
The cold.
