bitter on my tongue
grainy and caffeine-free
yet sweet enough to give me a sugar rush

o2.

she was an exception
al girl who wishes to not be
the ‘al’
only the exception
to expectations
put on her from birth

rules, regulations
visions, speculations
made for her in a long gown
for a black wedding

married to (others’) dreams
and dying in the ankle cuffs
that hid beneath her skirts

she tried to strangle herself with her veil
only to resuscitated
by the ones who had bounded her
