Bingo with Mr. Stephen
Location
I met you at the nursing home,
T’was Bingo we were to play,
You brightened as we entered,
as I asked about your day.
“I’m fabulous” you’d say each time,
a big smile on your face,
your body revealing otherwise,
as you struggled to keep your pace.
With shaking hands and tremors,
you’d play your card each night,
your winnings of a candy bar,
brought shouts of sheer delight.
Between these games of bingo,
Great tales of life were told,
Facts as you remembered,
with some fantasy so bold.
Such love of life you showed me,
and although your body ailed,
with all the struggles you withstood,
your spirit never failed.
I’m happy that you’re well now,
and suffering no more,
Your love of life and happiness,
I will miss it evermore.
