Atlas Loved

I would carry the weight of the world

for you

if I could

like Atlas.

My spine is weak

and slumped under my own weight

but I promise

I won't let you down.

My word does not mean much

but I want it to

for you.

For you

my words will be stone,

unbreakable,

my body,

a ship's mast,

strong through this violent storm.

I wonder if Atlas was afraid

of everything he stood to lose

had he faltered.

I wonder if Atlas loved like I do.
