American Hypocrisy
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." -Statue of Liberty. New York. Independence Day, 1776.
Walls, rules.
All raised to keep out a refugee, an immigrant.
Obstacles, hoops.
All preventing a safe and happy life.
Democracy, freedom.
All promoting American Hypocrisy.
Red, the color of blood from the refuge denied.
White, the color of skin from an ethnocentric outlook.
Blue, the color of tears frm a once generous nation.
Open, optimistic.
All dreaming of improving our nation.
Leader, role models.
All championing democracy.
A future that is possible, if we take it from corrupt, antiquated hands.
