America, the Liar
America, you lied to me
I came here to grab all the opportunities
It was a long wait, in that large embassy
I held on my mother’s hand as we flew across the sea
All the bright lights they were just a facade
We were in a small apartment and I prayed to God
That life would become greater
All that I see now are that our eyes have gotten wetter
In school, I was told that I would be a failure
How could you say that America
So judgemental and bold
My teacher told me that, only 8 years old
I grew up
I saw more
America saw me wear spaghetti straps
And called me a whore
How can you say that America?
With all this sexism and need for validity
I thought you saw more,
Where is the gender equality?
My president was black
And there was so much hate
In 2012
Trayvon Martin met his fate
They say we’re equal
Then they belittle
America held up a gun
He held up some skittles
America the great
We have a lot of hate
And when the blood splatters
When will we realize that black lives matter
Ya’ll wonder why I’m sayin’ all these shots
Like damn why are you giving all that you got
But listen, if I don’t give all that I got
The next black boy’s cries get drowned out with some shots
America, I thought you were cool
I realized that I was the fool
Ya’ll claim to care about us and want to treat us better,
Tell me why Flint, Michigan still doesn’t have clean water
America, you love all your people right?
We Asians, Latinos, Middle Easterners, and African Americans
We’re just a huge melting pot with goals in sight
Really we’re good citizens who are trying to fight
Ya’ll claim to be a fan
Then why issue a Muslim ban?
Ya’ll need to realize, with all that’s said and done
“Immigrants, we get the job done”
Tell me why America
Ya’ll have so many problems
Ya’ll elected a bad man
Trying to solve them
But America trust me
I don’t hate you
You’re just the reason why
I have trust issues
