is that I am not a cop with a badge and a gun

tasked to serve and protect

nor am I a black father or mother or brother

grieving over lost family or friend

nor am I a part of a community where

the line between black and white

are faded and not completely erased

but I am human

and I don’t need to be a cop, or be black,

or be part of a divided community

to know that there is something terribly wrong.
