A Letter Home

Location

You're a note sent from heaven,

To this battle field in hell.

I wish I could kiss you here

and the worries farewell.

Every letter written carefully

By a steady hand in ink.

I hold your picture to my heart,

You are my missing link.

I'm hopelessly lost in this never ending war

There's guns and fighting all around;

I promised you I'd come home

And to that promise I am bound.

Should my heart stop beating

Because a bullet is through my chest,

I'll be home at some point,

Please lay me down to rest.
