Location

The stars look down and they smile.

We lay in the grass looking up.

Hand in hand we are alone,

insignificant dots in the scheme of things.

Together, we will watch the world end.

Snuggled inside sleeping bags, warm

as asteroids come crashing down onto our heads.

We'll be at peace as time melts away.

There's no time left to make changes.

It's the end of the world as we know it.

Are you ready?

We tick towards midnight to be no more

At least according to some misinterperted Mayan prophecy

Staring at the sky we wait for the show to begin.

We glance at the clock, 12:30.

Either the world didn't end or we blinked and we missed it.

Or maybe it ended years ago.

On the moment we evolved on this planet.

So we'll spend the night here. It's cold but we don't mind.

It'll be spectacular someday.
