We Unwillingly Wear the Flag

Bounded by Red, White, and Blue shackles

We stand one Nation, under God

In the unemployment line.

Thirteen Red stripes

 aligned parallel on our backs

When we dare speak of Change.

Blue surrounds our eye because

this kind of work is all we can get.

The Trickle-Down Theory works the same for pain.

Drape the flag over your problems

And tell yourself

You are proud to be an American.

America, true America has become

A figment of your imagination.

Washington’s, Hamilton’s, Freedom’s America is not where we reside.

But we close our eyes

While being beaten down by this nation

And we see Stars, anyway.

My country
