I am lost.
Now
Teacher, I don’t have time for your ramblings
Teacher, I don’t need your downcast looks
Teacher, stop talking. Listen
Listen to me
Listen to what I have to say
Our education system—isn’t your fault.
--but my boredom in class is—
Teach me
Enthrall me
Amaze me
Inspire me to learn.
I am asking for it, I want it, I desire it
(You’re just not delivering)
I request to be challenged
to write more
to work harder
But you will not give me English classes
How often do you have a kid who begs to have more schooling?
Why aren’t you helping that kid excel?
GIVE ME MORE teacher
Give me what I am paying for.
Because when I get to college
And my eager eyes are opened to the wondrous opportunities awaiting me
I may not enjoy it anymore.
Then, you have failed.
Failed in the worst way possible.
Because now: I’m lost.
How am I supposed to improve my life if I am not getting the guidance I need at school?
You should be giving me more opportunities than I know what to do with!
Help me, Teacher.
Do more than necessary
Push me farther
Don’t tell me what I want to hear
Tell me what I need to hear
What I need to hear to be the next Nobel Peace Prize winner
Tell me what will inspire me to win the next Pulitzer
And be the next ambitious human being
I need your help
(might I remind you, this is what you signed on for)
Assist me please
Stop graduating students—
Who are lost.
