Belated Birthday Wishes
goes out to Temi Otedola,
Femi Otedola's daughter.
"CHOSEN AND HEAVENLY ELECTED"
Your
Gentle knocks
Angelic kicks
Subtle imprints
Mystical moves,
Brings about
Joyous chuckles
Anxious looks
The fidgety sighs
The wait
Counting days
Friday to Friday
troops surrounded the palace
corpses of soldiers strewn all about the place
carrying the only heir in her womb
Hemangini travelled through a journey
where the sight of future is unknown
you carried me.
you fed me.
you lifted me.
you let me grow.
i grew away from you.
i saw other things,
i got caught up in it.
you struggled.
your eyes bled tears,
What's between my legs offends you
I can see it in your fear
the way you shut us out just proves
you can't face the truth within.
We have the Universe inside us
you see it bleeding out
If I could change something
what would I do?
Would I make a new building
or create a zoo?
No I would change something more important
The life of a child
One who is unspoken
Stand up and hear the cries
With anguish they cry,
With despair they suffer,
With hope they hold on,
Hear them cry.
In haven, she is broken,
You wake up, eat, drive to work, drive home, sleep- repeat.
What is this?
Am I truly happy?
We begin in the womb for a time.
Born and as we grow, the cycle restarts once again.
What is my purpose?
