Ride
Learn more about other poetry terms
it all seems familiar
but strange at some point
the road
a ride i know
a walk not known
you'll never know
not untill you've been there
but how do we get there
when in a sudden
Every morning was the same routine but this year I was certain it would be different. Waking up to go to school is not the same as it was last year.
The steering wheel's fabric feels warm against the skin of my forehead slick, sweaty. Outside the chill threatens to freeze the ruby lakes of my bloodstream, it rages a war against the heat that has consumed my body.
Someone may ask
What uplifts you
You may say something obvious
Summer, friends, food, family, your significant other
But rarely will a person ever answer, life
Am I the movies I watch?Am I the books I read?Am I the classes I take?Am I the feelings I feel?Am I the food I eat or the drinks I drink?Am I the air I breathe?Am I the skin I live in?
EMBRACE LIFE
Everything Happens for a reason
You can go through bad things or Good things
If you go through bad things
Just Embrace it
If you go through Good things
Though your pain, can last a while
Sometimes, you just fake a smile.
Doing things you shouldn’t,
And you originally wouldn’t.
“Can I please have a ride?”
It’s a simple enough question.
But laced with barbed wire.
A huge favor to me
A way for me to work
But an inconvenience to you.
A chore
Could I but soar unbounded
As does the great Eagle Bald
And reach immeasurable heights
And No one has called
And tease all Day with my offspring
And feast as I may
