They say there patriotic
They fly a flag of lies
They say their bringing freedom
So they kill their fellow kind?
They say our countries worth it
They march in Nazi lines
(Situation in Ferguson, inspired by https://www.facebook.com/JayFleadaddieJon who wrote C.O.P,Criminals of Permission)
They teach us to weave our fingers
To create intricate patterns in our hair.
To adorn the onlooker’s eyes.
Creating superficial monsters,
Policed by superficial consumers.
Only you can make things as hard as they may seem
You have questions.... wondering what you can do
Pondering on many thoughts that you think only you think
A sea away,
Endlessly long days,
No sleep at night,
A few fights,
Plenty of giggles
New food that jiggles,
Chance of a lifetime,
Cost way more than a dime,
Want to go back,
I know you see me staring through you up there
Open your eyes and watch me scream for your attention.
I scream through my silence, a silence that was never there before.
I talked too much and would get detention for that,
What you cannot see will hurt you.
What you cannot see will bite.
You fear your eyes are opening,
So squeeze them tighter,
Block the light.
What you cannot see is beautiful.
If you look into the mirror and open your eyes,
You'll see each day your smile dies.
'Cause with each day you begin to see
That life isn't what its meant to be.
