Laying on my chest, laying on a patch of grass
I glance around to find scorches earth
The comradery is a memory now
My friends are a memory now
The weight on my back is a nation
I love nights like
this when the sky is opened into my window
and the world comes trickling in.
I feel vines and tentacular veins pierce my skin
and it's okay because
yeah I'm not so tough as I look
Like an object at rest I remained
Although a force was acting upon me

To the change that had happened
