I stand facing east Alone, quiet, still. Only one companion -- A proud cactus standing tall. Together we watch the cold night Become the hot day. Dry baked rocks beneath us,
The mighty sun punishes all that stay out for to long, the Arizona Rattlesnake awaits for dawn when the sizzling sun cools, it hunts its prey, the desert mice that scurry and play.

It started with a light  a single life.  the light under the door   coming through the cracks in the windows  cracks under the lids   of my eyes  waking slowly   in your arms.   
I want to be a cactus. I want to be rough around the edges; To form an armour around  my skin. To be free from what Most think that beauty is.   I want to be a cactus.
