Mythical Creatures

In the light of the lamp creatures come and go,
Passing from pen to page in its eerie glow.
Far off places full of castles and kings,
Places where the world is happy and sings.
Sings it does of the wonders of old,
The mythical creature hidden in the mountains
High above the clouds
A fearsome beast waiting for its feast
Something in the darkness waiting to be seen
Legend is his species
Yet he sleeps for not being slayed
Deep below, below earthen dirt
Treaded on years after days
Sound a-sleeping and sound silent,
But vibrations have been felt
It was nearly nightfall; sky darkened by the clouds that promised rain
But I had been chosen to go through Canyon of Monsters to prove my bravery
