Porque Te Amo:
On a plane I flew to the land of red, white and blue.
Not a word made sense, yet I was only two.
“This is your new life,” my mom would say.
“Y porque te amo, we’re going to stay.”
Because I love you:
I know your favorite cereal and not to wake you up before 9AM on Saturday
I know the moments you need your space and the times I know I can’t help
Never a secret.
But not because it was a rule, rather because they wouldn’t want it any other way
Never a cloudy day.
You know the things that have burdened me.
Like names carved in to a tree.
I was held so tight I could barely breathe.
In that last relationship I couldn’t leave.
But with you I have finally found a home.
He holds you close
He helps you out
Everyone obviously knows it's
Because he loves you
He grips you tight
He tells you no
He never really lets you fight
Because he loves you
Don’t call me Cupid. That’s tantamount to a slur.
Don’t call me “Love itself”. I’m only its quiet manifestation.
In your folklore, I have no name
The day I met you, was the day I knew
The day that I met you, I was in love.
The day that I met you, you were so new
I thought you were sent to me from above.
The words I love you, mean so much to me
When the wind is as cold as it blows against my skin
I feel warmth as your arms envelope me.
I know you love me.
When I tremble in fright as the flashbacks cloud my mind.
I hear your gentle voice beside me.
There is a piece of you that lives inside me.
I know it is there because I can feel it
Along the ridges of my spine
I see your tears streaming down your face,
Where I see beauty you see disgrace,
I want to shout out to the world that you're too good for him,
I know your affections are placing your life on a limb,
Music sexualizes it
Movies dramatize it
I can't even define it
Few ever find it
But most are like mimes cant even fucking speak on it
