One thing I can say about myself is that I am a survivor. I had my share of ups and downs throughout my childhood, but my rockiest moments came all throughout early adulthood. From the age of 18, it was like my life lessons really started to unfold. Over the course of 3 years (18-21 yrs.old), I experienced peer pressure with drugs, alcohol, and sex. Also experienced my first love, my first heart ache, emotional abuse, suicidal thoughts, school was not going my way, being betrayed by people who I thought were my friends, financial troubles at home, low self esteem, and I just went into a dark place for a long period of time. Through all of this I managed to keep a smile on my face like everything that was going around me wasn't there or as if it didn't exist. One day in May of 2013, I found this church that opened up to me with welcoming arms, King Jesus Ministry, and gave my life to Christ completely. I walked away from my old life and decided to just allow God to use me in a positive way and pursue my dreams of being a Nurse, but without the baggage of my past holding me back. I've always written poetry as a child but it seemed as if writing came back to me as healing therapy for my heart when different situations in my life tried to cripple me. It was like poetry was a way for me to escape but I wouldn't have survived without the Grace of God. Now I use my testimony as a way to reach out to others, whether it be young men or young women, that went through what I went through. Everyone needs someone else to relate to and I believe my heart is big enough to share my love of God and writing to anyone who is willing listen and hear my story. Love is a beautiful thing but when you love what you do it makes is that much more genuine, precious, and unique.
Step outside yourself for a moment, look at yourself in a different light. Not just any light, but with the Light of Christ.
He sees us in...
