Your Blinding Light
I rest in darkness and despair
Yet dawn cuts through black
Hope floods in, answer to prayer
All systems go: we seem on track
Your light is bright and it blinds
The pain of us seems to subside
Your beauty astounds and reminds
No matter the cost: worth the ride
I soar in daylight on wings of wax
Never remembering the prior crash
Our feelings: disparate; full of cracks
My wings are gone; unnoticed splash
But Brueghel was wrong: I didn’t expire
I’m rebuilding my wings; rekindling fire
