Ya gotta at least TRY

I’ve already devoted myself and my life

to a cause that still may fall through

but there would be no purpose

to anything I do

if I didn’t try.

I’ve been told to be more realistic

to give up on this before I fall

but if I do, and age with regret

I’ve not really lived at all

I refuse to do this

I’ve made my choice, I’m staying true

no matter what you say

for I know if I don’t

I’ll regret life everyday

I’ll be hollow through and through

I cannot, will not live my life

without trying for my dreams

because these aren’t just that

these dreams are plans to me

and for them I would die

And for them I must try.

This poem is about:
My country
