Winter's Wrath

The leaves began to darken,

Turning red, orange, and brown,

Before falling from the shivering tree,

Leaving the branches bare and cold.

The leaves gather in a cluster,

Trying to stay warm,

As the chill of Winter sets in.

A thick, white blanket left over the land

For everything to see.

Summer's heat has long gone,

Replaced by Winter's icy breath

Invading life like a fire does a forest.

But Winter is beyond mercy,

Letting nothing in her path remain.

Whether it be tree or bear,

Hare or mouse,

Nothing, not even Summer,

can survive Winter's Wrath.
