Wings

Sitting up high on the edge
Her feet dangle carelessly
As if tempting fate
To pull her into the open air
But she's not afraid
Not afraid of falling
Cause she knows she can fly
Fly away to a place
Void of heartache and pain
Where the roads sparkle gold
And the crystal towers are dazzling
Up there everyone travels with
Their own pair of wings
Every single one beautiful
Existing with only happiness and love

But still she sits
Continuing to inhabit a world full of so much pain
Knowing that she's needed here
She's someone's angel
Even without the wings
So she stays
Willing herself to see through the misery
And see how much beauty this world contains
Because there's no point if existing
If you don't let yourself see the sunrise
Hidden under the layer of clouds
So she waits
Knowing she'll get her wings someday
But for now, she needs nothing else

Just know that the most beautiful sunrises
Do come from the sky filled with more clouds
Just as happiness is more accented
After living through the pain

Cause how else would we have a rainbow
If not without the rain?
