Where I'm From

I’m from the collage of photos above my bed,

And the guitar in the corner.

I’m from piles of books and country music.

I’m from curly hair and brown eyes,

And board games scattered throughout the house.

I’m from long summer days,

camping trips and new grass.

I’m from playing badminton in the yard,

And hiking in the woods.

I’m from raspberry stains and rosebush scars.

Swimming in the creek and at the pool,

Always with friends and family.

I’m from trips to Memom’s house,

With family around every corner.

I’m from fireworks on the 4th of July,

Through the window,

On the roof,

Or running barefoot down the street.

I’m from Survivor every Thursday,

And road trips to the beach.

Floating on the water,

 Or diving beneath the waves.

I’m from climbing trees

And falling down,

But always getting back up again.
