Where I'm From
Location
I am from Picture Frames
From Yankee Candles and febreeze Airspray
I am from the weeds growing under the deck
(tall, green, it tasted like celery)
I am from the Begonia semperflorens
the Gaillardia aristata,
filled with reddish purple disc florets
I'm from the orzo shrimp and atheletes
from Michael and Amanda
and Charlie
I'm from the know-it-alls
and the can't lose attitudes.
From stop crying and go read a book
I'm from lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil
I'm from the carribean,
curry and calilou.
From the war my grandfather fought and survived,
The beat that played constantly in my father's head.
In my drawers, spilling old pictures and memories.
I am from that rocking cradle, abandoned after my transformation.
