What They Knew True

They provide answers to those who are new,
About questions of life, of faith, of love,
As the old scurry from what they knew true.

Chaos and dread, but there is hope in You.
The world in pursuit of something above
They provide answers to those who are new.

We sit, ponder, “Who made the sky so blue?”
With longing, these questions to be free of.
As the old scurry from what they knew true

Don’t speak them – we are unsure what to do
“Just guide the new. Give them peace like a dove.”
They provide answers to those who are new.

Repeat, He will come through… He will come through
Looming doubt, He is undeserving of
As the old scurry from what they knew true

Philosophers speak of a world taboo.
Where are the old? Whom we were so proud of
They provide answers to those who are new,
As the old scurry from what they knew true.

I was always very strong in faith when I was younger but, now that I've taken a philosophy class and have grown older. I am beginning to question my faith. While I still have my beliefs, I find that rather than a focus on helping those who are struggling with their long-existing faith, they are forgotten.
