What Love?

Because you loved me

You looked at me like I mattered

Like something more than skin and bones

You looked at me like I was a story

Or even a fresh painting

I loved that.

I loved you.

Bruises and deep cuts

Lying on the cool, damp floor

Barely beating heart

That was how you left me

Fuck I thought you loved me

Adoration barricaded those muddy, brown eyes

Behind were the true feelings

Disgust, anger, lust

Yet never once love

So when people ask me

If there is still love for each other in our hearts

I stare into their soul with dull, hazel eyes

Just to ask them in return

"What love?"
