What I Would Change

The world is different now. Everything revolves around money. It's all self gain and shiny objects. Why is it not socially acceptable to want to spend money helping others? To give money to people on the streets even if you believe they are faking poor? Why should some students have so many chances to get higher education because they just so happen to be born into a family that can afford it? What I would change is not the chance for world peace or to take away something like iphones to recreate human interaction. No. What I would change is the way people think or rather what society has drilled in our heads as the proper way to live our lives. I want people to see each other and think, "What can I do to help?" Because in a world where people are more connected to their compassionate side, less people would be suffering. Imagine a world where we want to support the people around us. Everyone working as if they were on a sports team- When one falls they all fall together and then rise again, stronger than before and still as one. Creating compassion for others will resolve issues that are basic living needs. Starvation is not something I want to read about anymore. Studies show that there is enough food for everyone so why are people dying because of lack of nutrition? Lack of clean water? The lack  of equal distribution is shortning lives- Lives that could have led  to the discovery of a cure for cancer.

My closet and drawers are full of clothes. I waste water and electricity. I don't study all night to pass a test. I eat more than I should. I complain about problems that are unimportant. I take advantage of my status like most. But the thing is is that I do not want to be that girl any more. I want to change peoples' compassion (including mine) because I believe that if we all truly care, we can change the entire world for the better. A world where everyone is equal and healthy.
