What Did I Do?

What did I do?

I left the house early

and looked down

when I passed a mirror.

What did I do?

I saw a man

and walked around

to clear his path.

What did I do?

I glanced at the clock

it was past lunch

I wasn't hungry anyway.

Why did I do that?

I was taught by my mom

that I wasn't worthy enough to look at my own reflection.

Why did I do that?

I was taught that a mans convenience

is more important than my own.

Why did I do that?

I was taught that women had to sacrifice their health

just to make as much as a man does.
