We're not the Past

We're your Past

We wear diapers

We play with dolls

We dress up

We shoot toy guns

We build out of blocks

We make mud cakes

We talk to our imagination

We pee in the pool

And we read picture books.

We're not the Future

We're your Future

We're the doctors

We're the artists

We're the teachers

We're the social workers

We're the pharmacists

We're the politicians

We're the priests

We're the soldiers

And we're the morticians.

We are just like you.

Our present is your past.

Our future is your present.

You are in all of us.

Now teach as if the future is in your hands

Because it is.
