Waves

I recall a time not long ago...

When I sat amongst the sand,

When the waves broke on the shore,

And the sun baked my hands.

I recall a time I lay,

Utterly at peace.

A time long before,

I was swept out to sea.

Tossed chaotically,

I stuggled to breathe.

Fighting the currents,

I began to seethe,

But in my useless fight,

My will was lost.

For, with every fight we lose,

There comes a cost.

Where there once was bliss,

And then rage,

I slowly accepted

My aquatic cage.

Doomed to be adrift,

I let my rage dull.

See, there amongst those waves

Now rests my broken soul.
