Walls
Location
The kids inside the walls become adults
While The kids outside the walls become adults
And The kids inside the walls wash their guilt away with vodka and rum
So they don't have to feel
While the kids outside the walls spit fire for a couple cents
And loose their capacity to feel
And the old people smile as they sit in the coffee shops, because they remember a time with hope
While the college students shake their heads because they've all lost theirs
And the tinted windows of the bullet proof cars flood the streets
While the street vendors try not to get hit
And the police are nervous
Because the villains win more than the heroes
And the line between hero and villain is thin
when everyone is addicted to breathing and allergic to lead
black and white laws
Turn a corrupt shade of gray
And the kids inside the walls cry at night
Because their parents haven't been proud of them in years
And the kids outside the walls cry at night
Because their parents haven't shown up for days
And the kids inside the walls choose to become adults so they can forget the kids outside the walls who were forced to become adults
And everyone pretends this is normal
Everyone pretends not to see
Because they know that only the wall divides them
And everyone has lost their hope
Because we have become adults who can't feel
