i was on my way to the gym at 4am this morning

i felt like the walking dead

my body was tired, but that's ok

it's time to wake up

that didn't bother me

what struck me was when i saw young people

continue to throw their lives away

knowing they'll never get it back

lifeless on the streets where they already created this preconceive notion 

that their time is up

countless bodies in the hood

a girl rolled like a gyro 

a young black kid who believes that he was floating on the air

thinking he can fly

i know what he was really doing

a drug dealer asking me if he can make a call

of course i said no

too many experiments where teens are now trying caffeine powder in a drink

in getting an adrenalish rush of how fast they can get drunk

they already began smoking hookah

then there's cigarettes

and then there's weed

what's next? cocaine

and yet, they justify themselves by stating that the world is coming to an end

what is world coming to? for me, it's not the end

i drive myself in being the absolute best and pave the way so that society doesn't perceive us as monkeys

yet, we continue to co sign inappropriate behavior, wrongdoings, and justification for why crimes are committed

directors don't need to select actors and actresses to reinact roles of playing apes in the upcoming film planet of the apes

you have people that naturally act like gorillas in the train, in the elevator, in the community

it never fails

this summer, this year

it's been hot and i'm not speaking about any heat waves

i'm talking about aftermaths when the city closes mental health clinics, day care, day camps, and afterschool

the streets keep calling people to obey the command of robbing an elderly  woman for her purse

the hood echoing to folks of picking up a gun to shoot rather than a pen to write down ideologies that will save people as much as tim howard did against germany

until we rewrite history
