a walk in a woman’s shoes

innocent minds laid to rest

subjected to a physical test

of strength and power through pain

what do those men gain

why am I treated like this

do they think their comments give us bliss

anxiety pulses as I walk

remember mom gave you that talk

you’re grown now, they will look at you differently

why can’t they just let me be
