Wake up, Love, or You Will Miss This

Wake up, love, or you will miss this.
The sun responds to my words, blinking his wide, yellow gaze across the purple mountains surrounding my valley. His lashes tickle the hovering clouds, edging their plump bodies with gold as they giggle their delight. The crops in the fields stretch their greeting, extending their fronds towards his warm embrace. The satisfaction of ten thousand smiles envelopes their grace and a shy mist uncurls herself from her lover as the morning glory smiles back his pleasure.
The trill of songbirds coaxes the sun away from his covers and he emerges from behind the mountains, his silhouette coming clear of the slope of their affection as he bursts into full glory. I stare into his eyes, breathless from his beauty, and he reaches for me tenderly. I close my eyes against the intimacy of his gentle touch and extend my arms to accept his caress. A playful breeze laces his fingers with mine and I feel the whisper of understanding in this moment where the earth bids me good day.
Within minutes, I am dragged back under the tide of automobiles and computer screens, forced into a box of steel and concrete, where my relationship with the sun and earth is neither accepted nor appreciated. All too often, the beauty of this wonderful earth is lost behind the latest technology or most innovative fashion. The sun awakes each morning searching for a friendly face, and he falls into a fitful slumber each night, forgotten and unheeded as he spreads his colors across the sky in a final attempt at Art.
If I could change one thing, I would lift the chins of a million children to the sky and point to the miracle that we take for granted every single day. Look, my friends, I would say, he is a friend. See how confident he is, how beautiful and radiant.
There is light and beauty and glory here, and often we only see the screen before us. Never forget that perfection lies just outside our synthetic windows, that peace is never more than a single night away. Never lose your sense of the beautiful things, for you are blessed beyond your understanding.
