I’ll speak softly,

Though my eyes are burning

And think of you often

Though slowly I’m learning

That I don’t possess

A shred of your heart

I should have expressed this

From the start

I made a thousand roses

Inscribed with your name

And the question they pose is:

Will it ever be the same?
