A Very College Christmas

Wed, 07/11/2018 - 20:49 -- canac

Listening to ‘Sleigh Ride’ while studying for exams,

Watching The Santa Clause on Friday night in the lounge,

Rudolph doesn’t seem the same without your family,

‘Silver and Gold’ makes me cry over Bio slides.

How to enjoy snow with finals hanging over our heads?

The noose tightens, but we keep heads high for break.

Every second in front of this screen makes my spirit fall again

Why would Santa deign to visit us?

The only ones who come at night are roaches and library-weary students.

Christmas music doesn’t sound the same through my phone’s speaker.

My heart is in my throat, but Domino’s is on its way.

Hard to feel merry when we can count on stress more than snow.

Andy Williams serenades me while I copy my notes,

I won’t be home so soon.

What a chasm yawns between math and the Christmas tree!

While I’m taking exams, my family sits at home and watches Elf.

I just stare at their picture on my shelf.

I forgot to eat dinner.
