The Usefulness of Poetry
Location
Poetry is useful.
It's for the rich man and the poor man.
For the man who cannot see,
and the man who cannot hear.
It's for the man who has no voice,
and for the man with plenty of one.
It's for a man to express his deepest sorrows,
and to show his greatest joys.
It gives the reader something to ponder.
It gives the writer something to say.
It describes our hidden fears and secretive anxieties.
It shares revealing secrets and powerful truths.
It gives mysticism to a plotline,
and thought to an adventure.
It gives us depressions.
It gives us happiness.
And above all,
it gives us a voice--
a voice in a world that seems to get louder everyday.
