upon a mother's death, healing

the air is thick with sky

its heaviness settles over me

and there is no telling

where you end

and i begin

with just one step

careless

or careful

I could submerge into you

are you in my lungs

or on my skin,

tangled in my hair?

we came from one

until the world pushed us apart

as i rose

you sank

your turmoil swirling into

the currents below

i took to the sky and

brewed a storm;

ravaged all within

my shadow

do you see me now?

i could have been more for you

and you chose the hardest paths

but we came from one and

there is no telling

where you end

and i begin

are you in my lungs

or on my skin,

tangled in my hair?

when the fog lifts

clarity emerges.
