Ugly Duckling

I ruffled up my feathers,

And I looked at the stars,

Shining with their bowing heads,

As they brought bundles of wheat,

Supplying me with barley for

My 40-day journey along the

Mountains

And the ducklings in their fine cloth,

Noticed my rainbow coat,

How it shined as brightly as the stars,

And they threw my down the well

As they cast lots on every shade of

The rainbow the coat had promised

An an angel had stilled the hands of

Abraham as he held a flint knife,

And with a kiss, I was bought

With 30 silver coins, being

Sold to the Ishmaelites to

Egypt

And Potiphar's wife had decided

To smoothen her chapped lips with

Sweet honey, and she kissed me

On the cheek as I went away from

The Garden of Gethsemane, put

On the scaffold with Barabbas

As I bore the red brand, searing me

As it shined brighter than

Betelgeuse

And the rainbow coat remained,

Reminding me from the window

Of the promise I remembered wearing,

And with its wings, it covered me,

Flying me to a distant land as it

Supplied me with bread and wine,

And my ruffled feathers became straightened

And I was taught how to fly

Like an angel in its fiery glory,

And like a duck, I learned how to swim,

Walking on the water as I would

Approach Jesus with caution

And Jesus would grab me by the

Arm, leading me as a bride

While I had been washed with a

Radiant white that created a

Rainbow in the sky,

And the ducks in their fine linen

Noticed how bright the rainbow

Lit up the sky, and they noticed

How I danced gracefully as a swan

And they realized their hunger for wheat

And in the fields the wheat had been harvested

Supplying them for their journey,

And the Israelites found the

Land of milk and honey,

And they noticed the gold that

Made Jerusalem rich in its supply,

And they traveled on donkeys,

Shouting "Hosanna!" as

The olive branches led them to

A land with a rainbow as a road
