They Said High School Would Be Better

Wed, 04/01/2020 - 17:15 -- Kbliss

I don't know if i stared too long

I didn't know if i could form the words

quick enough for them to understand me

But, i wasn't blind to the fact that they were fake

She smiled at me from her group of friends

she asked my name and i innocently complied

she said you have really pretty eyes

later that night i saw a cute boy

she came over to me with such rage

i was sure if she heard

I was a wet shirt on a clothesline

just waiting to be worn and accepted

if she could see my insecurities

she personally would've been the one

to wrap the string around my neck

and make sure i knew where i belonged in the dirt

Nothing.

It was suppose to be better.
