Like They Once Did

I want to inspire
Wait, no, I want to guide.
I want to be the teacher in the classroom
Who's chalk stained hands do serve
To educate the future.
I want to reach out a guiding hand
To the helpless child looking for a way
A way to feel solitude, a way to find happiness.
I want to inspire that child, like they once did
The teachers of the past, who inspired me to push forward
To be where I am today
Those English teachers who called me a writer
Those critics and graders that pushed me to become something more
I want that, I strive to be that person
A helping hand, a guiding figure
Helping along our next generations of learners.
The next world leaders
The next great writer.
I hope to inspire them, so they too will write this poem
And say, I want to be like him
